Experience the sights, sounds and atmosphere of a working cattle sale in the heart of Queensland beef country at the Blackall Saleyards.

Operating since the 1970s, the Blackall Saleyards have grown to become one of western Queensland’s major cattle selling centres, attracting livestock from across northern and far western regions. More than 120,000 head of cattle pass through the facility each year, making it an important part of the region’s agricultural story.

Visitors can witness a live cattle sale from the purpose-built viewing platform, offering a unique elevated perspective at the same height as the auctioneers. Watch as cattle are drafted, weighed and sold during a fast-paced auction and gain insight into the people, processes and industry that help drive Australia’s beef sector.

Guided tours are available on Thursday mornings when sales are scheduled, providing an opportunity to learn about the saleyards, the auction process and the role agriculture continues to play in Outback Queensland.

On-site facilities include a canteen serving breakfast and refreshments on sale days, shaded seating areas and convenient parking.
