The 2018 Outback Queensland Tourism Symposium & Awards will shine under the spotlight from 1-4 November in Roma.
The Maranoa region will host the four-day ‘When in Roma’ themed symposium which is expected to draw over 250 tourism industry representatives to the outback.
Roma was selected as the host town after winning the bid against other Council’s in the south-west region.
In contrast to previous years where the Outback Queensland Tourism Association board has made the selection, this year, the host town was chosen by South West Red Regional Economic Development.
General Manager of the Outback Queensland Tourism Association (OQTA), Peter Homan, is excited to see Outback Queensland’s tourism industry gather in Roma for the awards.
“Every year we look forward to announcing the host town, and this year Roma will have the opportunity to shine.”
“We are keen for everyone in the outback’s tourism sector to celebrate their hard work over the past year at the night of nights for the industry.”
“With 17 awards categories open for submission, the 2018 OQTA Tourism Awards applauds the efforts of all who contribute to creating such a strong tourism industry in Outback Queensland” Homan said.
Applications are currently open for the Outback Queensland Tourism Award submissions, with category nominations closing 30 April and award applications closing 4 September.
Next year, the event will be hosted in the central west, with the host town nominated by Remote Area Planning & Development Board (RAPAD).
