Save & Splurge this Summer: A new tourism campaign to boost visitation Outback Queensland

The Queensland Government, Tourism & Events Queensland and Outback Queensland Tourism Association has launched one of the largest tourism marketing campaigns ever developed for Outback Queensland, aimed at encouraging holiday visitors to experience Queensland’s wild west.

Outback Queensland Tourism Association in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland, Sunlover Holidays, and QantasLink, have released discounted travel, accommodation, and tour packages to all corners of the outback with prices starting as little as $375, for 3 nights (flights included).

Targeted at travellers seeking adventure and discovery, the campaign, if successful, will run seasonally over the next three years.

The campaign is in market until 17 September, with the intention of growing passenger numbers and room nights across the travel period October 2018 – March 2019

General Manager of the Outback Queensland Tourism Association (OQTA), Peter Homan, is eager to invite Aussies on an experience of a lifetime.

“Tourism in the Outback is booming. We’ve had more new tourism attractions open in the last six months than many other parts of the state.”

“The Queensland Government is dedicated to boosting infrastructure in Outback Queensland, recently investing $70 million towards the recently re-opened Waltzing Matilda Centre, Qantas Founders Museum, Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame, and the Charleville Cosmos Centre, along with sealing roads to make it easier for visitors to travel to the outback” he said.

“We hope the discounted flight and ground travel that form part of this campaign encourage visitors to make Outback Queensland a destination they’ll visit today, rather than ‘maybe one day’” Mr Homan said.
