Yuleba, settled in 1865 originally near Yuleba Creek, was relocated in 1879 to the railway crossing known as Baltinglass. In 1901, Baltinglass was officially renamed Yuleba, and the original site became known as Old Yuleba. A flood in 1910 prompted residents to consolidate in the new location.
Located 60 kilometers east of Roma on the eastern border of the Maranoa region, Yuleba serves as a service center for the nearby community of Jackson and the surrounding rural area, offering commercial facilities, a hotel/motel, a food store, a post office, sporting amenities, and a primary school.
Yuleba holds historical significance as part of the Cobb & Co. Coach Service, with the last horse-drawn coach in Australia running from Yuleba to Surat in 1924. Visitors can experience this history through significant sites like the Cobb & Co Mural, Aboriginal native wells, and the Cobb & Co Corduroys—historic road constructions made from cypress pine to facilitate travel during wet conditions.
Just 5 kilometers southeast of Yuleba is Judd’s Lagoon, known for its beautiful flora and fauna. This scenic lagoon and wetlands area is a favored fishing spot and offers a peaceful natural setting for bush camping and birdwatching.
