Day 1: St George

Your journey begins in the charming riverside town of St George.

Your slow journey through the Outback starts with a leisurely long lunch at Riversands Wines.  Here, you’ll sample their local drops and a enjoy a Ploughman’s Lunch with locally sourced provisions before enjoying a guided tasting at their cellar door.

After lunch, check in to your accommodation and explore local shops including the Harmony Centre, a small gallery with artworks that celebrate the region’s First Nations peoples.

As afternoon fades into golden hour, drift along the river on a relaxing sunset cruise with Sandytown River Cruise. As you idle down the river, you’ll enjoy the views and abundant birdlife including pelicans, cockatoos and eagles.

Overnight in St George.

Day 2: St George to Bollon

Journey west towards Cunnamulla and make a stop for a Bollon Cultural Walk with Nullawokka Tours. This unforgettable experience will see you connect to Country and immerse yourself in First Nations culture. You will be guided by an elder as you discover sights of significance, view Dreamtime art, learn how to find bush medicine and enjoy a seasonal bush tucker tasting.

Day 2: Bollon to Charlotte Plains

Continue on to Charlotte Plains, an historic sheep station that has become a cult favourite with travellers due its steaming artesian waters and outdoor bathing experiences.

Here, the experience is beautifully simple: sink into naturally heated artesian baths beneath vast open skies. As night falls, immerse yourself in the soothing mineral waters while a blanket of stars unfolds overhead — an unforgettable Outback ritual of relaxation.

Overnight at Charlotte Plains either in your own caravan or camper or within the property’s onsite accommodation options.

Day 3: Charlotte Plains

Wake to the quiet rhythm of station life and spend the day discovering the character and history of this remarkable property.

Join a guided station tour to learn about pastoral traditions, enjoy a spot of birdwatching or explore the kilometres of walking trails that cross the property before slipping into an outdoor bath at sunset.

This is a day to simply relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of life in Outback Queensland – fresh air, wide open spaces and stellar views of Australia’s darkest skies.

Day 4: Charlotte Plains to Cunnamulla

Continue on to Cunnamulla, a classic Outback town rich in heritage and warm country hospitality. Take a snap with the Cunnamulla Fella and tour Cunnamulla All Aboard before checking in at Club Boutique Hotel and easing into an afternoon of indulgence at Cunnamulla Hot Springs.

A flagship experience along Outback Queensland’s Wellness Way, this stunning wellbeing oasis features geothermal mineral pools, a cold plunge pool, sauna and steam room nestled against a stunning location beside the Warrego River.

Indulge in their signature Body Clay Ritual before exfoliating and enjoying a cleansing shower.

Day 5: Cunnamulla to Eulo & Yowah

Continue your wellness journey with a trip to Eulo’s Mud Baths, considered nature’s own detox. Pack snacks and refreshments to enjoy with your therapeutic mud bath, where mineral-rich artesian mud will detoxify and revitalise.

After your mud bath experience, stop for lunch at the Eulo Queen Hotel before continuing on to Yowah.

Settle into the Artesian Spa Caravan Park, where naturally heated waters invite another blissful soak.

Day 6: Yowah to Cunnamulla

Yowah is home to one of the world’s most unique and beautiful gemstones – the Yowah Opal Nut. Formed over millions of years, these round or oval-shaped rocks often contain stunning opal inside and Yowah is one of the only places in the world where they can be found.

This morning you will pick up fossicking gear and instructions for obtaining a licence at the caravan park and then head out to try your luck at uncovering your very own piece of Outback Queensland.

The fossicking area is just 800m from the town centre – a 2 minute drive or 15 minute walk.

Return to Cunnamulla for your final evening in the region. Make one last visit to Cunnamulla Hot Springs (multi-visit passes are available) before tucking in for the night after six days of restorative bathing, expansive landscapes and unforgettable moments.

Browse a range of authentic Indigenous artworks, gifts and souvenirs or take a tour with Bill, a local Kooma Elder for a cultural experience that you won’t forget.

Charlotte Plains

Located just a short drive from Cunnamulla, Charlotte Plains sheep station has become a cult favourite with travellers due its steaming artesian waters and outdoor bathing experiences.  Guests can take a station tour, enjoy a spot of birdwatching or explore the kilometres of walking trails that cross the property before slipping into an outdoor bath at sunset.

Eulo Queen Hotel

Back in the 1880s when opal mining was at its peak, Eulo was a bustling township with three hotels. For a while it was home to one of the legends of the opal era ‘The Eulo Queen’. Today the town centrepiece is the Eulo Queen Hotel, named after the thrice-married pub owner, storekeeper and opal trader, Isabel Gray. Visit the Eulo Queen Hotel for a cold beer and a great pub lunch.

Yowah

Yowah is ‘The Friendly Opal Field’ 165 kilometres west of Cunnamulla. Stay at the Artesian Waters Caravan Park and then set about enjoying your time in this small community. Try your hand at fossicking and if you have no luck, shop at one of the town’s opal shops and buy directly from a local family.
