Day 1: Rangelands Outback Camp
Located on a jump-up (or mesa), Rangelands is a working cattle property that delivers ultra-luxe glamping. Only 12 supremely pampered guests are accommodated at a time in the supersized luxury glamping tents, complete with king sized beds, air-conditioning and showers with a view. During your stay you will experience mouth-watering meals prepared by the onsite chef and take in panoramic views while you enjoy wholesome food, fine wines and premium beers.
Arrive at Rangelands Outback Camp for your exclusive three nights stay. Take a guided walking tour of the Rangelands Rifts before joining fellow guests on the Sunset Deck for and a chef prepared gourmet dinner.
Day 2: Discover Winton
Wake to an Outback sunrise and enjoy a relaxed, chef-prepared breakfast before heading into town using Rangeland’s scheduled shuttle service. Explore the main street including a number of opal stores retailing everything from raw stones to jewellery.
Enjoy a coffee break and tour at the Waltzing Matilda Centre (pictured) before taking a short stroll to Arno’s Wall – definitely a camera worthy stop!
Enjoy a hearty pub meal before returning to Rangelands in the early afternoon for sunset drinks and another gourmet dinner at the camp.
Day 3: Australian Age of Dinosaurs
Depart Rangelands and head to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs for your Ultimate Dinosaur Tour. This four-hour guided tour will see you explore the museum’s unique facilities – the Fossil Preparation Laboratory, Collection Room in the Reception Centre, “March of the Titanosaurs” exhibition and a self-guided exploration of Dinosaur Canyon.
At the end of your tour, return to Winton to check in and enjoy a late lunch.
Return to the main street for dinner and a movie at the Royal Open-Air Theatre Winton. This iconic theatre was built in 1918 and is just one of two open-air theatres still operating in Australia. Settle in for a movie under the stars in this charming space complete with canvas chairs and old school candy bar.
Day 4: Opal Hunting
Enjoy breakfast in town before stopping into the Visitor Information Centre (inside the Waltzing Matilda Centre) to more information about opal fossicking. Armed with a map and licence, you’ll take a daytrip to sites around Winton for your very own opal hunting experience.
Or spend the morning with Red Dirt Tours for their Bladensburg National Park Half Day Tour, a beautiful adventure through rugged rock formations and Scrammy Gorge (pictured).
Upon returning to Winton, browse the main street’s shops and opal stores for a piece of the Outback to take home.
