Eromanga Natural History Museum

Eromanga – 968km west from Brisbane

Set in the vast Eromanga Basin, once an inland sea, this fascinating museum is an absolute must for dinosaur fans looking for a ‘hands on’ dino experience.

The museum’s collection of mighty dinosaurs, megafauna and tiny microfauna marks millions of years of Queensland history, and includes ‘Cooper’, Australia’s largest dinosaur – a Titanosaur aged up to 98 million years-old! There’s also Zac, the country’s most complete sauropod skeleton and its only known articulated example from the Cretaceous Period.

As a family-focused attraction, there’s something for visitors of all ages. You can even become part of the museum’s fossil detective team with opportunities to dig alongside the experts and get a taste of working in the lab removing thousands of years of sediment to prepare fossil treasures for display. There are a number of tour and experience options, and you can stay onsite at the museum’s 4-star Cooper’s Country Lodges Outback Studios.

With a new museum building, café and shop opened in 2021 it’s also easy to take your time in comfort to appreciate all the museum has to offer.
