Kajabbi Pub

Stanfield Street, Three Rivers, QLD

Australia’s Greatest Outback Pub.

Perched on the banks of the Leichhardt River, this classic outback pub serves up cold beers and hearty feeds with true country hospitality.

Outback Life on the Leichhardt.

Wake to the call of dingoes at dawn, their howls echoing across the riverbanks around 4:30–5:30 am — three known packs roam the area, one often seen near the old airstrip. Here, the road may be dusty, but the welcome is warm. A 9km dirt stretch (currently ungraded to Mount Isa) leads you to a laidback bush escape full of character and charm.

Camp under wide open skies where wallabies hop between old mining shelters and freshwater springs. The Leichhardt River offers a refreshing swim, great fishing (think black rim, sleepy cod, and perch), and peaceful sunrise walks along the banks. Fossicking is a local favourite, and Telstra coverage means you’re still connected — just enough.

Birdwatchers are in for a treat with sightings of the elusive Kalkadoon Grasswren, Red-backed and Baird fairy-wrens, and the striking Crimson Finch.

The big annual highlight? The Yabby Races — a classic outback event not to be missed.

With pet-friendly camping, unforgettable sunsets, and a rich mix of wildlife, history, and outback hospitality — stay a night or stay five. Either way, you’ll leave with red dirt on your boots and stories in your soul.
