The Thargomindah Visitor Information Centre (VIC) is located in the Bulloo Shire in far southwest Queensland, 1000 kilometres west of Brisbane. The VIC is situated at ‘Echidna Place’ on Dowling Street, which is the main road into town from the east. It is a great place for visitors to relax and unwind after a long journey, as it shares a precinct with a Coffee Shop and a Library and has a lovely big deck where you can sit and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and chat with the locals.
The VIC provides information on road conditions, tourism attractions, tourism products, and events within the Bulloo Shire and the greater Outback region. Also, it stocks various maps, brochures and tourism magazines. VIC staff are happy to advise visitors on roads, where they can stay and eat, and what there is to see in town and the wider region. It’s a great place to visit and has been likened by visitors to an “Oasis in the Desert”. So please remember to stop and drop in when you are driving through on your Outback Odyssey.
