Discover gems like Birdsville, Lake Eyre, Anna Station and the amazing scenery of the Simpson Desert from the comfort of your own four wheel drive. Duration: 10 to 12 days. Rating: medium, with some difficult sections. Planning is subject to change brought about by road, weather conditions, and what happens en route. Also, depending upon choices made by the participant themselves. The tour allows for a range of 10 to 12 days of touring. The actual number of days is determined primarily by the participants themselves, depending largely on what choices they make for viewing particular sights, and having rest days.
The 12 day maximum allows for 2 rest days without driving. The tour will meet every morning unless other arrangements are agreed. Food and fuel are available at most of the bigger stops (Marree, William Creek, Oodnadatta, Mount Dare, Birdsville, Mungerannie). Daily distances travelled are around 120 to 400 kilometres. The longest distance between fuelling locations is some 730 kilometres (Madigan Line). It is recommended you take sufficient basic food and water supplies for 6 days just to be safe.
