Standing tall on the edge of town, the towering GrainCorp Silos in Thallon are brought to life with the breathtaking mural “The Watering Hole”, painted in 2017 by renowned artists Drap (Travis Vinson) and The Zookeeper (Joel Fergie). These were the first Silos to be painted in Queensland. Winning best Rural Mural and Best of the Best in the 2019 Grey Nomad Awards, this spectacular artwork has become Thallon’s landmark, celebrating the region’s rich farming landscape and local wildlife. For the best view, and more information about the Artwork, head to the designated viewing platform and soak it in safely.
The mural appears to change colour throughout the day with the position of the sun and at night, the Silos are lit up to showcase their beauty. Creating a spectacular backdrop for the campground and allowing photographers to capture their beauty from their campsite at any time of the day.
