Outback is Open – Come & Say G’Day!

As flood recovery efforts continue across our region, Outback Queensland Tourism Association (OQTA) is working hard to ensure our tourism industry is well-supported — now and into the future.

In collaboration with the Queensland Tourism Department, Tourism and Events Queensland, and key government leaders, we’re proud to announce that we’ve secured recovery funding to launch a major marketing campaign:

This campaign is designed to drive visitation, restore confidence, and support operators on the ground. It will include:

  • Widespread media, PR and advertising across digital, print and video platforms
  • Promotion of operator deals via ATDW
  • A traffic light system to guide visitors as regions re-open
  • Media familiarisations, social media content, and event marketing

We encourage all operators to get involved by uploading deals, filming a welcome video, and keeping us updated on your reopening status. Please read the Campaign Overview and Operator Toolkit for full details. Our team is here to support you — don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Steady your bucket lists — the Outback is open and ready to welcome visitors!

We’ve turned on the lights, rolled out the green carpet, and we’re putting on a show like no other. From stargazing and dinosaur digs to camel races and cowboy challenges, Outback Queensland offers spectacular landscapes, colourful characters, rich history, and some of Australia’s most unique events.

With warm weather, epic road trips, a packed events calendar, exclusive travel deals, and regional flights available to key destinations, now is the perfect time to plan your Outback adventure.
