Outback Queensland Is Set To Roar In May For Dinosaur Week!

The ancient giants of Outback’s past will come back to life with a new statewide celebration of prehistoric discovery, science and regional storytelling.

Timed with National Dinosaur Day on 7 May, Queensland’s Dinosaur Week will be held from Monday 4 May to Sunday 10 May and is your roarsome invitation to step into a world that’s been millions of years in the making.

From Winton to Richmond, Eromanga to Hughenden, fossil-rich Outback towns have united to celebrate Queensland’s deep-time story. Through hands-on fossil digs, museum experiences, expert talks and family-friendly activities, visitors can walk in the footsteps of dinosaurs, meet the scientists behind the discoveries, and experience landscapes where history is still being unearthed.

Headlining Queensland Dinosaur Week will be internationally acclaimed palaeontologist Dr Dean Lomax, on his first ever Australian Tour.  He’ll be appearing in Winton and Richmond where the public can dig for real marine fossils alongside him in the field.

Queensland Dinosaur Week and the launch of The GREAT Queensland Dinosaur Trail have brought these experiences together under one unified banner for the first time.

You can view the full program here.
