That’s not a truck – THIS is a truck.

One of Australian cinema’s most iconic pieces is returning to Outback Queensland this winter for the Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival.

Mick Dundee’s legendary vehicle, the battered Never Never Safari Tours truck (as seen in the 1986 Australian classic film Crocodile Dundee), will be available to view for one night only as part of this year’s film festival.

Film festival attendees will have the unique opportunity to see Mick Dundee’s wheels up close before settling in for an exclusive 40th anniversary screening of Crocodile Dundee at Winton’s historic, 108-year-old Royal Theatre.

The restored 1972 International C-1300, originally served as a PMG mail truck in Darwin before becoming one of the most recognisable vehicles in Australian cinema history. For years it sat proudly at The Walkabout Creek Hotel in McKinlay, but with help from Vision Splendid Chairman Trevor Love, it has been transported across Outback Queensland to Winton for this special event.

Upon its release, Crocodile Dundee became a global phenomenon, catapulting Australian cinema onto the world stage. Four decades later, it remains Australia’s most successful film ever and one of the country’s most culturally significant productions.

Adding to the nostalgia, Delvene Delaney will attend the special screening in Winton. As a co-director of Rimfire Film alongside Paul Hogan and the late wife of John Cornell, co-writer and producer of Crocodile Dundee, she was closely involved in the original production and continues to preserve the film’s legacy.

The anniversary screening and truck display will headline Vision Splendid’s Opening Weekend celebrations, bringing together Australian film lovers, remote communities and a genuine piece of cinema history under the clear skies and evening stars of Australia’s beautiful Outback.

This year’s Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival will take place from 26 June to 5 July in Winton.
